Our Health equals our Wealth. Where have we heard this before? Maybe there is some truth to it…
One of the secrets to joy and happiness in our lives emanates from a healthy mind and body. The physical body is an outcome of the mental, emotional and spiritual body. One effects the other and we must look at all three components in creating health and vitality.
One way we can do this is to eat foods which are alive and grow in nature rather than come from a box or a can. The closer the food is to the earth the more alive it is with Chi energy!
Another way to do this is to make sure our foods are balanced in terms of Yin and Yang. Yes, Yin and Yang energy can be applied to our food choices. Yang energy is outward, activating, warm or hot. Yin energy is inward, stored energy, cooling and anti inflammatory. Yang can be related to fire energy and Yin can be related to water energy. These principles are embodied in the food choices we make.

Some examples of Yin foods are green vegetables, ocean vegetables, root vegetables, raw cultured vegetables, winter squash, grains such quinoa and millet, red skin potatoes, raw vegetable juices, lemons, limes, cranberries, pomegranates, currants, raw apple cider vinegar, tea, mineral water, probiotic liquids and green drinks. These foods are the most balanced and healing for the body.
Some examples of yang foods are beef, chicken, fish, lamb, eggs, sea salt, cheese, beans, soy bean products, flour products, dried fruits, carbonated drinks, ice cream, coffee, alcohol, wine, beer, chocolate, nuts and sweets.
The key is in finding a balance between eating foods that are both and Yin and Yang. A preponderance of Yang foods in our diet makes it especially important to eat more Yin foods to create a healthy ratio of acid and alkaline-forming foods in the body. To regain optimal health and ideal inner Chi energy our intention must be to eat foods that balance and complement one another for a healthier and happier YOU.
